Short Range Forecast


For all the North Island, except Gisborne and Hawkes Bay: Rain spreading east today, followed by fine spells. However, showers developing in the west tonight from Taranaki to Northland, some heavy and possibly thundery.
Gisborne, Hawkes Bay: High cloud and a few brief falls of rain.
Nelson, Buller, Westland and Fiordland: Rain easing to showers by early afternoon. Showers becoming frequent about Buller and Nelson tonight, some possibly heavy and thundery.
Marlborough: Rain clearing this morning, then fine spells and isolated showers. Showers more widespread in the north tonight.
Canterbury, Otago and Southland: Patchy morning rain clearing, then fine spells developing. Scattered showers developing this afternoon, some heavy and possibly thundery with hail from South Canterbury to Southland.
Chatham Islands: Cloudy.

Wednesday: North Island, rain or showers in most places, some heavy falls about the ranges, clearing later. South Island, showers in most places, a few heavy in the afternoon.
Thursday: North Island, fine spells, but a few showers in the south and west. South Island, rain developing in the west, and a few spots of rain elsewhere.
Friday: North Island, showers spreading to most places, but only a few in the east. South Island, heavy rain in the west easing. Late rain in the south and a few showers elsewhere.
Chatham Islands: Showers on Wednesday with northerly winds. On Thursday, the odd shower, but fine breaks increasing. Winds turning westerly. On Friday, cloudy periods and northwesterlies.
