Gisborne to Wairarapa: Cloudy periods and isolated showers, clearing tomorrow afternoon or evening.
Marlborough, Nelson and Canterbury, also Central and North Otago: Fine, apart from cloudy areas morning and night about the Kaikoura Coast and Canterbury.
Dunedin, Clutha and Southland apart from Stewart Island: Cloudy periods with a few showers, retreating to the south coast this evening then clearing tomorrow afternoon.

Friday: North Island, showers becoming widespread in the west, just brief showers for Wellington and Wairarapa. Remaining dry elsewhere. South Island, rain in the west, heavy at first, clearing Westland later. Mainly fine elsewhere, early rain in the south.
Saturday: North Island, few showers clearing and becoming fine. South Island, showers in Buller and Fiordland clearing early, few showers in the south and about coastal parts of Otago and Canterbury clearing later. Mainly fine elsewhere.
Chatham Islands: Cloudy periods on Thursday, with a few showers possible. Winds turning northwest. Northwesterlies strengthening on Friday and a few showers. Rain at times on Saturday with a change to southwesterlies.
