Gisborne to Wairarapa: Sunny today. High cloud tomorrow, late rain in Hawkes Bay.
Waikato to Wellington, including the central high country: Cloudy today with isolated light showers about the coast. Rain developing tomorrow, briefly heavy about Taranaki and Taumarunui, then clearing south of Taranaki from afternoon.
Nelson, Marlborough and Canterbury: High cloud. Brief rain in Nelson and Marlborough tomorrow morning.
Buller, Westland and Fiordland: Patchy drizzle. Rain spreading northwards today and early tomorrow, with brief heavy fall before easing to showers. Some showers maybe heavy in Fiordland.
Otago and Southland: Mostly cloudy. A few spots of rain in the west this evening. Scattered showers from tomorrow afternoon, snow lowering to 600 metres in the south at night. However, northern Otago remaining mostly dry.
Chatham Islands: Mostly cloudy, with the odd light shower.
Saturday: Showers clearing then fine spells increasing.
Sunday: Rain developing in the west of both Islands, with heavy falls about the South Island. Scattered rain or showers elsewhere. Northerlies rising to gale or severe gale in exposed parts of the South Island and lower North Island, turning westerly overnight.
Monday: Rain or showers for most clearing and fine spells increasing about the North Island. Showers becoming confined to the west and south of the South Island and becoming mainly fine.
Chatham Islands: Showers on Saturday with winds changing fresh southwest. Occasional rain on Sunday. Strong southerlies gradually turning northeast. Rain easing to showers with a strong southwest change on Monday.
