Waikato to Wellington, including Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and the central high country: Mainly fine, but a few early showers about Coromandel, and coastal areas of Waikato and Waitomo.
Gisborne to Wairarapa: Cloudy periods, with isolated showers mainly about the ranges.
Marlborough, Nelson, Buller and Westland: Fine, apart from a few cloudy areas.
Canterbury: Cloudy periods, mainly morning and night. Afternoon fine spells.
Southern Lakes and Central Otago: Fine.
Fiordland, Southland, Clutha and Dunedin: Cloudy periods with a few showers, retreating to the south coast this evening.
Chatham Islands: Cloudy periods. Few showers developing this afternoon.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny. However, isolated showers possible in Northland, scattered showers in Hawkes Bay and Gisborne clearing, and late drizzle for Fiordland.
Thursday: North Island, cloudy periods increasing in the west with isolated showers developing near the west coast. Mainly fine elsewhere. South Island, rain or showers in the west, heavy in Fiordland and southern Westland later. High cloud thickening elsewhere.
Friday: North Island, showers becoming widespread in the west. High cloud further east. South Island, rain in the west, heavy at times for Westland and Fiordland. A period of scattered rain elsewhere.
Chatham Islands: Cloudy periods on Wednesday, with a few showers clearing and southwesterlies easing. Mainly fine on Thursday with winds turning northwest. Few showers returning on Friday with strong northwesterlies changing lighter southwest.
