WARNINGS LIFTED BUT WATCH REMAINS
A complex low pressure system is crossing the country today
(Saturday), then should move away to the southeast. An associated
front has crossed the North Island. The heavy rain and gales ahead of
it have moved out to sea and the associated warnings are all now
lifted.
A trough is expected to cross the North Island overnight and early
Sunday morning, with another burst of heavy rain and north to
northwest gales and watches remain in force for a number of areas.

Northland to Taranaki, including the central high country, Coromandel and Bay of Plenty: Showers turning to rain north of Taupo this afternoon, heavy and possibly thundery for a time. Rain easing to a few showers tonight and clearing in Bay of Plenty. Showers becoming frequent in the west tomorrow night with possible thunderstorms.
Gisborne and Hawkes Bay: Mainly fine. Isolated showers in Gisborne today.
Wanganui to Wellington including Wairarapa: A few showers, mainly north of Wellington, clearing tonight. Showers developing tomorrow night or overnight.
Marlborough and Nelson: Mostly fine. Isolated showers clearing this evening. Showers developing tomorrow night.
Buller and Westland: Showers north of Hokitika at times, fine further south.
Fiordland: Mostly fine about the fiords but a few showers about the Lakes.
Canterbury: Showers retreating to Banks Peninsula this afternoon. Showers may spread inland again tomorrow night.
Southland and Otago: Occasional showers, mainly in Southland.
Chatham Islands: Rain clearing afternoon. Showers developing tomorrow.

Tuesday: North Island, occasional rain or showers in the west. In the east, showers spreading from the south. South Island, occasional showers in the east and south, with snow to 400 metres in the south. Mostly fine in western areas, but showers about Golden Bay.
Wednesday: North Island, occasional rain in the north. In the south, occasional showers in Wellington and the east and fine breaks elsewhere. South Island, any remaining showers retreating to the south and east coasts,otherwise mainly fine, with morning frosts in some places.
Thursday: North Island, occasional showers in the east and Wellington.Elsewhere, rain in the north clearing, otherwise fine or becoming fine. South Island, mainly fine with morning frosts, but a few showers about the south coast.
Friday: Chatham Islands: Rain at times on Tuesday, then a few showers for the remainder of the period. Strong southerlies turning westerly on Wednesday.
