Marlborough, Nelson and Buller: Occasional rain, easing to a few showers tonight. Rain returns late tomorrow.
Westland and Fiordland: Occasional rain, gradually clearing from tomorrow afternoon.
Canterbury, Otago and Southland: Scattered rain, with snow above 700 metres, clearing most places tomorrow morning, but a few showers remaining.
Chatham Islands: Showers clearing tonight. Cloudy periods tomorrow.
Friday: North Island, rain in the west, heavy at times and possibly thundery in the northwest. Scattered rain in the east, clearing Gisborne and Hawkes Bay. South Island, rain developing, possibly heavy in northwest and southeast.
Saturday: North Island, few showers in the west from Waitomo to Kapiti, mainly fine elsewhere. South Island, rain or showers easing and clearing in the east.
Sunday: North Island, few showers for Northland and in the west from Waitomo to Kapiti, mainly fine elsewhere. South Island, rain in the west becoming heavy, scattered falls for Southland. Fine elsewhere.
Chatham Islands: Rain developing late Friday, and northeasterlies rising to gale. A change on Saturday to showers and gale westerlies. On Sunday, showers and westerlies easing.
