Taranaki to Wellington, also central high country and Wairarapa: A few showers, mainly north of Wellington, clearing tonight. Showers developing tomorrow evening or overnight with possible thunderstorms in Taranaki.
Marlborough and Nelson: Fine apart from isolated showers until this evening then further showers tomorrow night.
Buller and Westland north of Hokitika: Occasional showers.
Remainder of Westland and Fiordland: Fine apart from some showers near the south coast.
Canterbury to Southland: Showers, retreating to Banks Peninsula and southern Southland this afternoon. Showers may spread inland again for time tomorrow.
Chatham Islands: Cloudy periods. Showers developing tomorrow.
Tuesday: North Island, occasional rain or showers in the west. In the east, showers spreading from the south. South Island, occasional showers in the east and south, with snow to 400 metres in the south. Mostly fine in western areas, but showers about Golden Bay.
Wednesday: North Island, occasional rain in the north. In the south, occasional showers in Wellington and the east and fine breaks elsewhere. South Island, any remaining showers retreating to the south and east coasts,otherwise mainly fine, with morning frosts in some places.
Thursday: North Island, occasional showers in the east and Wellington.Elsewhere, rain in the north clearing, otherwise fine or becoming fine. South Island, mainly fine with morning frosts, but a few showers about the south coast.
Friday: Chatham Islands: Rain at times on Tuesday, then a few showers for the remainder of the period. Strong southerlies turning westerly on Wednesday.
