South Island food manufacturer Milligans Food Group has admitted to a spelling mistake on one of its Eclipse Cheese products.

Milligans division manager Kelvin Atley told Newshub the company was made aware of the faux pas last week in an email from a customer.

Across their variety of cheese products, the 1kg block of Eclipse Colby is the only product marred by the spelling mishap.

The packaging reads: "Melt-in-the-mouth creamy cheese perfect for snacks, sandwhiches and your favourite grills."

Mr Atley said the company still has some misspelled packaging to use up, and offered no timeline on when it would be reprinted.
