Hamdog: A delicious marriage of foods

Is it a hotdog? Or is it a hamburger? Actually, it's both.

If you thought the world of fast food had run out of ideas, thanks to an Australian man you can think again.

Mark Murray's great 'hamdog' idea was turned down and laughed out of the room on Australia's Shark Tank - their version of the UK's Dragons Den where entrepreneurs pitch their ideas for investment by business gurus.

But that humiliation didn't stop him, instead persevering and patenting his idea.

He's now selling them at fairs and markets around Western Australia where he says there've been lines of people waiting to try it.

"We launched our marquee two months ago and we had people come from everywhere just to experience the Hamdog," he told News.com.au.

"At one stage the crew were knocking out about one every 15 seconds. It was amazing," he said.

On the show, which aired in 2015, Mr Murray described the product - a hybrid hotdog and burger bun - as a "party in your mouth" which caused judges to laugh.

The burger patty is split in half to allow the sausage to be placed in between - you can then add any condiments you like.
