Harawira calls on mayor to settle Ports dispute

An MP is trying to organise a multi-party meeting with Auckland Mayor Len Brown so he knows how they feel about the port dispute.

Mana Party leader Hone Harawira is approaching leaders of Labour, NZ First and the Greens.

"Len's the mayor so he has a big influence on decisions down at the ports," Mr Harawira said on Thursday.

"I'm proposing that the leaders of parties who have expressed support for the workers get together."

Mr Harawira believes Mr Brown has enough clout to influence Ports of Auckland management, which is locked in a dispute with workers over pay and conditions.

The parties haven't yet responded to his call.
