More jobs to go at Shell

Oil giant Shell is to slash a further 2200 jobs from its global workforce, saying it expects the price of oil to remain lower for longer.

By the end of this year total job losses at Shell are expected to be about 12,500, integration with BG Group also driving employment numbers down.

Shell had 94,600 staff at the end of 2015.

"Despite the improvements that we have made to our business, current market conditions remain challenging," says Paul Goodfellow, Shell vice-president for UK & Ireland.

Total job losses would be higher if the company wasn't investing more IT staff and graduates, Shelll says.
