More than two million people have joined KiwiSaver.
But KiwiSaver expert Binu Paul says many people are a bit confused about how the savings scheme works. He is the founder of SavvyKiwi, an app that allows people to manage their KiwiSaver account.
So this week Newshub is looking at some of the myths and misunderstandings about KiwiSaver.
Mr Paul says there is always something happening with your fund. Either the markets your money is invested in are acing issues or your provider themselves will be going through changes that could impact your fund.
Even the fund managers themselves change. We started with just over 52 providers, but that has fallen to 25.
There is a lot happening. So you have to keep track of what is going on.
