Petrol and diesel prices are on the rise.

Z has confirmed it raised the price for both diesel and petrol by two cents a litre yesterday.

The price rise follows an increase last week in international crude oil prices.

West Texas and Brent crude prices rose by around 8 percent following reports the OPEC oil-producing nations hope to reach a deal next month to curb production.

Z says its standard national price for diesel is $1.209 per litre. Unleaded 91 is retailing for $1.899 and 95 octane is selling for $1.989 a litre.

Other fuel companies are likely to match the price increase.

However there is hefty discounting in some areas, like west Auckland, Hastings and Te Kuiti.

Unleaded 91 is selling for as little as $1.559 in Te Kuiti.
