Three types of Danny's Pita Bread with expiry dates prior to August 2 are being recalled due to contamination by an undeclared soy allergen.

The Danny's pita bread flavours include Garlic filled, Olive filled and Garlic filled Wholemeal Pita Bread. They come in packets of 4 pita breads per 320g plastic tray.

The breads are sold in supermarkets throughout New Zealand.

The recall does not affect people who aren't allergic to soy, and doesn't affect any other Danny's brand pita bread products.

People with a soy allergy or intolerance should not consume any of the three types of bread, the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) says.

If you have eaten the bread and have concerns about your health, MPI says to seek medical advice.

Customers are being told to return the products to their retailer for a full refund.
