If you often find yourself stuck in situations you desperately want to escape, there's a new app that's a must-have.

Dorothy, named after the character from The Wizard of Oz, allows the user to click their heels together three times to summon a fake phone call or text nearby friends.

It works via a motion-detecting, Bluetooth-enabled chip attached to your shoes.

Elsewhere in tech, LG's new 55-inch curved OLED TV has gone on sale here in New Zealand, for just under $5000 – 60 percent cheaper than last year's model.

RSAs and sports clubs have been offered the new screens at a reduced price to help them prepare for the upcoming Cricket World Cup.

Also, we look at an impressive supercar and a rather super scooter, as well as a drone equipped with a defibrillator that can be controlled by doctors remotely.

NOTE: Entries for the Big Boys' Toys competition mentioned in the video have now closed.
