Lady Gaga, Anna Paquin and Sofia Vergara are among the celebrities paying tribute to the 49 victims of the Pulse nightclub massacre in a video released by US gay advocacy group Human Rights Campaign.

In the 18-minute video released this week, the celebrities read the name, age and a biographical sketch of each shooting victim.

Stars featured in the video include Caitlyn Jenner, Kerry Washington, Chris Pine, Cuba Gooding Jr, Matt Bomer, Angela Bassett, Lea Michele, Chaz Bono, Emma Roberts, George Lopez, Evan Rachel Wood, Demi Lovato, Kid Cudi, Jamie Lee Curtis, Lee Daniels, Chace Crawford, Gerard Butler, John Stamos, Laverne Cox, Jordana Brewster, Kathy Bates and Joe Mantello.

The actors, singers, directors and entertainers sit in front of a dark screen, facing the camera as they deliver the 20-second segments.

Most are sombre and the voices of a few of them break.

The video was directed by Ned Martel and Ryan Murphy, creator of TV shows such as Glee and American Horror Story.
