TV3's hugely popular 7 Days series may be heading your way.

The show's comedians, who take the mickey out of the news, are embarking on a two-week tour of the country.

One of those hitting the road is Urzila Carlson, who says in some ways, she's just like 3 News anchor Hilary Barry.

"Taking the message out to the people, what's going on in New Zealand and around the world… hard-hitting news stuff. I'm sure our prep is the same – quickly scull a beer, and then go out."

This year's been a bumper one for the 7 Days team, with the news overflowing with personalities ripe for mockery. One of Carlson's favourites is Conservative Party leader Colin Craig, who recently made headlines for refusing to rule out the idea that commercial planes are spraying secret chemicals on the public.

"He's really close to my heart, that fool. I mean that man," says Carlson.

Embattled ACT leader John Banks is another politician she enjoys taking shots at.

"I'm looking forward to meeting up with Banksy, hopefully have a cup of tea or something with him, you know, 'cause I like tea, he likes tea. I'm not into controversy and neither is he."

Despite the show's reputation for pushing the boundaries, Carlson says the 7 Days team behave like angels when they're on the road.

"We're all really well-behaved – we go out, we do this basically public service, and then we all just have a cup of chamomile tea and go to bed early… a lot chanting and meditation and stuff like that, because our wives are really onto it. We phone them before bedtime."

The tour kicks off this weekend in Dunedin. Details on where the shows are and when, and how to get tickets, are on the TV3 website.
