Aaron Paul is desperate to work with Ricky Gervais.

The Breaking Bad star has made no secret of his admiration for British funnyman Ricky, and has issued a fresh plea to star in his latest comedy show Derek.

Talking at last night's BAFTA TV awards, where he was on hand to pick up Breaking Bad's gong for best international show, Aaron played the sympathy card by saying he was out of work.

"I want to be part of Derek so bad. Ricky and I have been joking around about it on Twitter so maybe it could happen," Aaron told British newspaper Metro.

"I'd love to play one of Derek's friends who comes over to his house and then just stays. Anything he would write for me, I would do gladly do. I'm just trying to get a job, man - I'm out of work!"

Aaron has been enjoying his time in the British capital, managing to squeeze numerous showbiz events into his A-list schedule. He was last week spotted at David Beckham's swimwear launch at Shoreditch House and was once again in the party spirit last night.

"I hate to throw Americans under the bus and I've got to be honest, Brits can handle their drink more. Sometimes Brits can get pretty wild," he laughed.

"I love it out here and it's so beautiful right now, London is my favourite city in the world."

Aaron was joined by fellow TV stars Jeremy Piven and Sam Neill on the red carpet last night.

Naomi Campbell, Jamie Dornan and Helena Bonham Carter also put in a star turn at the prestigious awards ceremony.
