AC/DC receive rave reviews for Wellington show

Australian band AC/DC performed a concert plagued by technical problems in a Wellington gale but finished to rave reviews.

Strong winds and rain lashed Wellington last night when the band played at Westpac Stadium but the wild night ended with canon bangs and fireworks that could be heard across the city.

Reviewer Simon Sweetman wrote that after the first track Brian Johnson used up most of the night's banter while telling the crowd to wait patiently for a technical problem to be fixed.

The band sang 'Shoot to Thrill' but a guitar-amp issue continued and there was a 40-minute break, during which the band left the stage.

"The crowd cheers in support, then boos in a mild rage, there's wind and rain and it's not looking good."

But the rain and the huge delay did not ruin the night.

"I never thought I'd be able to write that an AC/DC show in 2015 was better than one in 2010 but that's exactly the case. A masterclass in stadium rock. Awe-inspiring," Sweetman wrote.

Others tweeted AC/DC made it up to the fans and then some.
