Activision responds to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 issues

Activision has released a statement saying that they are aware of issues plaguing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5, and are working with developer Robomodo to work on fixes - though when they might be available isn't yet known.

The game came out this week, but its release has been marred by negative reviews and widespread reports of bugs. It's been described as a "broken mess" by Tech Times, a "glitchy mess" by Eurogamer, who shared a video yesterday of numerous game-breaking bugs they encountered in just one hour of playing time (above).

This is despite having a 7.7 GB day one update, almost twice as heavy as the game's base install size of 4.6 GB.

Activision has rejected speculation that this meant that what was on disc was an incomplete version in a statement released earlier this week.

"The core of the game is present on the disc and playable without downloading the patch," the publisher told Game Informer.

"The patch does contain tweaks that are needed to fully integrate dedicated server support, which is needed if the player is connected to the Internet since the game is always online. The patch also gives the players additional content as well as improved stability and overall experience."

In their latest statement (via GameSpot), Activision say they "are aware of the issues that players have experienced following the launch of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 and are working with the developer to address these so that we can continue to improve the gameplay experience for all of the Tony Hawk fans who have known and loved this franchise for more than 16 years."

Activision did not issue any further details on a timeline for improvements, or what changes it is planning to make.
