Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner reportedly still wear their wedding rings for the sake of their children.
The 42-year-old actor and his 43-year-old estranged wife announced their split last month and since making news of the breakup public, the pair have both been seen donning their marital bands more often than not.
And a source close to the former couple has revealed the reason for the duo sticking to the accessories is so they can maintain appearances for their brood, which includes nine-year-old Violet, six-year-old Seraphina and three-year-old Samuel.
"The children are a big part of why they're still wearing [the rings]," a source told People magazine. "They just want them to be okay."
Affleck made his first official appearance since the split as he promoted his new movie Batman v Superman at Comic-Con International in San Diego, California, last weekend.
At the event, Affleck’s gold band was still prominent on his left hand. And as Garner works on her new movie Miracles from Heaven in Atlanta, Georgia, she has been seen sporting her own ring in between takes on set.
While the children are currently staying with Garner as she shoots the film, Affleck has been doing his utmost to visit the tots frequently.
"Ben plans to be there with them as much as he can," the source said. "He's playing Mr Mom, and that is what he wants to do. As difficult as it is, from what we've seen, it's pretty amicable."
While Affleck has apparently turned to ex Gwyneth Paltrow for support and advice amid the split, Garner is said to be "doing great".
"The kids are with her, which is all she wants," a friend told the publication. "She's as strong as ever."
