Sir Ridley Scott's terrifying creation in Alien has been named the scariest movie monster in cinema history.
The creature featured in the 1979 sci-fi classic topped a poll by Britain's Radio Times magazine to find Hollywood's most horrible screen beast.
The skeleton army in 1963 film Jason and the Argonauts came in second, while third place went to The Thing from Kurt Russell's 1982 movie of the same name.
Other creepy characters to get a mention in the top 10 include the soul-sucking Dementors from the Harry Potter series, A Nightmare on Elm Street's razor-clawed killer Freddy Krueger and the shark from Jaws.
