Amanda Bynes has dodged another legal bullet after Los Angeles police officials decided against pressing charges over her September arrest for driving under the influence (DUI).
The embattled Hairspray star was reportedly found to have Adderall, a drug commonly used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), in her system when she was pulled over by cops last year, but the amount was considered too little for the Los Angeles City Attorney to prosecute.
However, it's not all good news for Bynes - the actress' case has been referred to the District Attorney, who could choose to revoke her probation and place her in jail over the drug use if it's ruled a violation of the terms of her freedom, reports TMZ.com.
The star was handed three years probation last year as part of a plea deal over a prior DUI charge, relating to a 2012 arrest in West Hollywood, where she was busted for allegedly side-swiping a police car.
Bynes' DUI arrest last year was considered a big setback for the actress, who battled a string of legal and mental health issues in 2012 and early 2013 before completing a lengthy rehab stay in December, 2013. She appeared to have turned her life around in the following months after enrolling in the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Orange County, California, and had charges relating to a marijuana possession case dismissed in June.
However, she subsequently dropped out of school and returned to rehab over the summer after a fight with her family, who feared her psychiatric issues had again spiralled out of control.
