Mr Pip is premiering in Auckland tonight.
The film, based on the novel by Lloyd Jones, is directed by Shrek filmmaker Andrew Adamson.
After screening at last year's Toronto Film Festival, Mr Pip opens in New Zealand in October.
Kate Rodger caught up with Adamson today to discuss the film.
