Kiwi filmmaker Andrew Adamson will direct Inherit the Earth, a film based on the comic Zombies vs Robots, reports Variety.
The Shrek and Chronicles of Narnia filmmaker will be working with Michael Bay, whose Platinum Dunes production company optioned the series in 2011. Bay is one of the film's producers.
The film focuses on a young girl who is the last survivor on Earth. She is protected by a team of robots from a horde of zombies that are intelligent and evolved.
Zombies vs Robots and its sequel Zombies vs Robots vs Amazons were created by Chris Ryall and Ashley Wood.
Adamson's most recent films are the adaptation of Lloyd Jones' novel Mr Pip and Cirque du Soleil: World's Away, which was produced by James Cameron.
