With summer fast approaching, Mac’s breweries have come out with a pear cider as an alternative to their already popular apple variety.

Cider has become a lot more fashionable over the last year, with many breweries attempting to cash in on its popularity.

The Mac’s Isaac’s Apple Cider was my personal favourite of the many new ciders that emerged, so when I saw the release of the new pear cider I was very curious to give it a go.

Mac’s Isaac’s Pear Cider is marketed as the ‘perfect summer refreshment’, so I picked a hot, sunny afternoon to put it to the test.

On first sip I was very pleasantly surprised.

For anyone who finds the apple cider too sweet, then pear cider is definitely the drink for you. It is a lot dryer and crisper than it’s apple counterpart. The pear flavour is very light and not too overpowering.

A great summer’s day drink, Mac’s Isaac’s Pear Cider is extremely refreshing and not overly sweet.

It is a great alternative to beer for those sunny afternoon barbeques.

I definitely recommend trying it out as the weather – slowly but surely – gets better.
