US President Barack Obama took a swipe at the man who wants his job when he returned to US TV show Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday.

Mr Obama featured in the show's famous 'Mean Tweets' segment, reading out tweets that criticised his clothing and compared him to the band Nickelback.

He finished with a hit from Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, reading out Mr Trump's tweet that: "President Obama will go down as perhaps the worst president in the history of the United States."

"Well, @realDonaldTrump, at least I will go down as a president," he responded, before dropping the phone.

"Bro, do you even lift?" Mr Obama read from another Twitter user, to which he responded, "Well, I lifted the ban on Cuban cigars. That's worth something."

Another tweet said "Barack Obama dances like how his jeans look," referring to the President's love for 'dad casual' denim.

"You know, this jeans thing, this is so old. This is years ago, c'mon," responded Mr Obama.

Mr Obama is in the final days of his eight-year presidency, as the US Election approaches on November 8.
