An Australian radio host has branded Justin Bieber a "dweeb" after allegedly becoming embroiled in a bust-up with the troubled pop star at the Coachella music festival in California.

Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald, a presenter on Australia's Nova FM, was invited backstage to watch AC/DC's performance at the event on Friday but the gig was marred by a scuffle with 'Baby' star Bieber.

Fitzgerald phoned in to his station's Kate, Tim & Marty show on Tuesday to recount his experience with Bieber, alleging the diminutive singer attempted to start a scrap with him before his bodyguards stepped in.

He told his fellow radio hosts, "I am running around, jumping around. I'm on my phone, right, I'm walking with my head down and my backpack on. I'd had a few beers. Walking, looking at my phone. I look up and it's just a wall... of huge black guys. And down the front right in front of me... was this little dweeb... I look up and... Justin Bieber is right in front of my face. He put his hands out and pushed into my side and I'm like, 'You're kidding yourself mate, I'm twice the size of you'. So I sort of stood up and... I sort of leaned into him... and these huge guys just grabbed me by the backpack and just threw me into the fence on the side."

The alleged incident came just a day before Bieber was filmed purportedly battling festival bodyguards as he was reportedly denied access to a VIP party.
