Bret McKenzie nominated for Grammy

Bret McKenzie could soon add another big accolade to his trophy cabinet, with the announcement that he has been nominated for a Grammy.

The comedic songwriter is up for the Best Song Written for Visual Media award for his song ‘Man or Muppet’, which featured on The Muppets movie and has already won an Oscar for best original song.

McKenzie already holds a Grammy for Best Comedy Album, which he and Jemaine Clement won in 2007 for their Flight of the Conchord Album The Distant Future.

The nominees in the Best Song Written for Visual Media category are:

‘Man or Muppet’ (The Muppets) - Bret McKenzie
‘Abraham's Daughter’ (The Hunger Games) - T Bone Burnett, Win Butler and Régine Chassagne.
‘Learn Me Right’ (Brave) - Mumford and Sons
‘Safe and Sound’ (The Hunger Games) - T Bone Burnett, Taylor Swift, John Paul White and Joy Williams

‘Let Me Be Your Star’ (Smash) - Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman

The Grammy Awards will be handed out in Los Angeles on 10 February.
