UFC and WWE superstar Brock Lesnar has been unveiled as the cover star of upcoming video game WWE 2K17.

The announcement comes weeks before the 38-year-old crossover star takes on Kiwi fighter Mark Hunt in his return to MMA at July's UFC 200.

It will be Lesnar's first bout since 2011, when diverticulitis forced him into an early retirement.

Wrestling legend Goldberg has also been announced as a bonus feature for those who pre-order WWE 2K17.

Lesnar remains under contract with WWE and is scheduled to be part of its SummerSlam pay-per-view in August. The company agreed to a "one-off opportunity" for Lesnar to compete in UFC.

The 38-year-old American has previously appeared on the covers of 2002's WWE SmackDown: Shut Your Mouth and 2003's WWE SmackDown: Here Comes the Pain.

Hunt has issued Lesnar with a stern warning over their upcoming face-off, saying: "Don't confuse wrestling with real fighting. I'm going to give it to him.

"He thinks this is a game where he can come back and forth. I will send this pretender back so he can play house with the other part-timers. This realm is for the real fighters, not these damn pretenders."

WWE 2K17 is set for release in October for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360.
