The finalists for New Zealand's 2016 Children's Music Awards have been announced by APRA AMCOS and Recorded Music NZ.

The awards hope to celebrate music that will "inspire New Zealand's youngest music fans with their quirky songs and fun lyrics".

The finalists for Best Children's Music Song Award are Anna van Riel and Daniel Fairley for 'Cooking Up a Song', Anika Moa with 'My Nana's Farm' and Lucy Hiku and Jenny Payne for 'Pō Mārie.'

The winner will receive a $1000 cash prize and a $10,000 grant to go towards the production of a song and music video, courtesy of NZ On Air.

Three children's music videos have been selected by a panel of judges and it is now up to children themselves to vote on the winner out of 'Mighty Maui', 'Weird Creatures' and 'Aotearoa, Home of Our Hearts'.

The winners of all awards will be announced at the 2016 Children's Music Awards ceremony on August 9.
