Cirque du Soleil is returning to New Zealand in February, performing Quidam in Auckland and, for the first time, Christchurch.

Quidam features 46 acrobats, musicians, singers and actors showcasing spectacular aerial feats and astonishing human agility.

The show centres on a character named Zoé, a bored girl ignored by her distant and apathetic parents. Her life has lost all meaning and seeking to fill the void of her existence, she slides into an imaginary world - the world of Quidam - where she meets characters who encourage her to free her soul.

Quidam was debuted in Montreal in 1996 and first came to New Zealand in 2005. After almost 20 years of travelling the world, this New Zealand tour will mark the final chapter of the show when it is permanently retired at the end of the Christchurch season.

Cirque du Soleil's Quidam will be performed at Auckland's Vector Arena February 5 - 14 and Christchurch's Horncastle Arena February 18 - 21.

Tickets to the general public go on sale on August 27.
