Dan Aykroyd is launching a blues record label with John Belushi's widow Judith.

The Ghostbusters star and Judith will help sign and develop both veteran and upcoming acts to Blues Brothers Records, their label named in honour of Aykroyd and Belushi's cult 1980 film and their subsequent band.

Judith will act as creative director and Aykroyd plans to use his House of Blues concert venues and his syndicated US radio show to promote the new artists under an agreement with Blue Note Records and its President Don Was.

Aykroyd tells Billboard magazine, "By working with a first-class producer in Don and using [the radio show] to help sell, there's a good shot at getting some traction... [I'll] lay back and suggest things and let Don do what he does best for the first year or two. But who's to say? I always want to find the next Gary Clark, Jr"

The label has not signed any artists so far, but they are asking aspiring musicians to submit their music online. An official launch date has not been announced.
