Hip-hop producer DJ Shadow was booted from his own set at a Miami, Florida club over the weekend after he was accused of "confusing" fans with his choice of music.

The DJ, real name Joshua Davis, was spinning ‘Spit Thunder’ by experimental dubstep producer Krampfhaft at the Mansion venue in the early hours of Sunday when a promoter approached him and asked the star to play something more mainstream.

The exchange was caught on camera by a clubgoer and video footage of the incident has since been posted online, showing a disappointed Shadow addressing the crowd, saying, "I've waited a long time to play here, but they said this shit is too confusing for all y'all."

He subsequently cut short his set and stormed off, leaving local DJ No Maz to replace him.

Shadow later took to his Twitter and Facebook accounts to defend his music playlist, insisting he would never compromise his 'integrity'.

He writes, "I don't care if I get kicked out of every rich kid club on the planet. I will never sacrifice my integrity as a DJ...ever AllBassesCovered".
