Iron Man will be joining Spider-Man in his upcoming reboot film, the first Sony is producing for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Robert Downey Jr has been confirmed as a co-star in Spider-Man: Homecoming, alongside newcomer Tom Holland as the titular hero.

It won't be the first time the pair grace our big screens -- Tony Stark recruits Peter Parker in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, which marks the debut of Holland as the web-slinger.

Marisa Tomei will star as Aunt May and the cast will also feature Zendaya, Tony Revolori and Laura Harrier. Jon Watts is onboard to direct after finding success with indie hits Clown and Cop Car.

Meanwhile, previous reports that Michael Keaton would play the film's villain have been shot down. The Batman and Birdman star is said to have been offered a role, but not taken it.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is set for release in July, 2017 while Captain America: Civil War hits cinemas next month.
