Big Dyls learnt his lesson the hard way on The Block after grinding some metal without safety glasses.

"I had safety glasses on my head but I was too tired and it slipped my mind," says Dyls.

The Wolf warned him it was a bad idea and that metal could easily fly up into his eye, but Dyls didn't heed the advice.

"I joked and said nah, I'm like superman. Bloody silly bugger, eh," he said.

Dyls says it wasn't until the next morning he realised that Wolf's warning had become a reality.

"[My eye] got really irritated that night and I thought that I was just real tired because we only got about 15 minutes of sleep that week," he said.

"But then I woke up the next morning and it had heaps of gunk around it. That day it just got so sensitive to light and was streaming with water."

Dyls ended up in A&E with a piece of metal stuck in his eye.

"It was about the size of cracked pepper. The next day… I was regretting it. It caused a hell of a lot of pain."

Dyls says he's learnt his lesson.

"Just put your bloody glasses on, it takes two seconds."
