Ed Sheeran accused of plagiarising Marvin Gaye

Ed Sheeran has been accused of copying Marvin Gaye's hit song 'Let's Get It On'.

Ed Townsend, who co-wrote Gaye's 70s hit, has filed a complaint in a New York court alleging his song is strikingly similar to Sheeran's 'Thinking Out Loud'.

Sheeran's song spent a full year in the UK Top 40 and has been streamed more than a billion times on YouTube as well as winning Song of The Year at last year's Grammy awards.

Gaye's family won $10 million from Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams for copyright infringement over their single 'Blurred Lines'.
