Hip hop heavyweight Eminem has confirmed he will perform his first New Zealand show next year.

Eminem will perform as part of a new event entitled Rapture, which will take place at Auckland's Western Springs on Saturday, February 15.

Promoters say the event is being curated by Eminem himself and the 13-time Grammy winner has chosen Kendrick Lamar, J Cole and David Dallas as his support acts.

Eminem is preparing the release of his eighth solo studio album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 for November. Three songs have already been released songs off the album - 'Berzerk', 'Survival' and 'Rap God'.

Often courting controversy with his violent, homophobic and misogynistic lyrics, Eminem has sold more than 1 million singles and albums in New Zealand. Seven of the 41-year-old 'Lose Yourself' hitmaker's previous albums have hit #1 here.

Kendrick Lamar has been lauded by many as one of the best rappers of the current generation. Lamar performed at Auckland's Powerstation last year just before the release of his critically-acclaimed debut album good kid, m.A.A.d city.

New Zealand rapper David Dallas will also perform at Rapture 2014. Dallas released his new album Falling Into Place on Friday.

Tickets to Rapture 2014 go on sale through Ticketmaster on Thursday, October 31.
