The first film in the new Star Wars trilogy has a name: Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Until now only known as Star Wars Episode VII, the official title was announced this morning via the official Star Wars Twitter account.

Principal photography has also wrapped, though the film isn't due to come out for another year.
The Force Awakens is being directed by JJ Abrams, who also shot the new Star Trek films, as well having a hand in hit TV shows Alias and Lost.
It picks up the story three decades after the events of 1983's Return of the Jedi, and sees the return of original trilogy stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Kenny Baker (R2-D2), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), and Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), with newcomers Lupita Nyong'o of 12 Years a Slave, Gwendoline Christie of Game of Thrones, Adam Driver of Girls, Oscar Isaac of Inside Llewyn Davis, John Boyega of Attack the Block and motion-capture maestro Andy Serkis, of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies.
Daniels, who plays C-3PO, says The Force Awakens could top fan favourite The Empire Strikes Back.
"No movie sequel is better than The Empire Strikes Back." You might eat those words for Xmas dinner in 2015. Joy & Indigestion to the world!

The Force Awakens is set for release on December 18, 2015.
