Fans to wait longer for Star Wars: Episode VIII

Disney Studios has used the force to push back the release of Star Wars: Episode VIII by seven months and has also changed the date of the next Pirates of the Caribbean film.

Standalone Star Wars film Rogue One is still slated for its original December 2016 release, but the following movie has been pushed back from May 2017 to December 2017, Variety reports.

Episode VIII, helmed by Rian Johnson, is currently in pre-production and will begin principal photography in London next month.

The Force Awakens stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Oscar Isaac will return in Episode VIII.

Disney has also shifted the release date of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales to May 2017 from July 2017.
