Fifth Harmony singer Dinah Jane Hansen is hoping to make her childhood dreams come true by landing the role of a Disney princess in an upcoming movie.

The 'Worth It' hit maker has tried out for the title role in Disney's latest animated musical Moana, and she is convinced her South Pacific roots makes her the perfect choice to play the Polynesian princess.

The 18-year-old, who is of Polynesian and Tongan heritage, tells MTV, "I auditioned for the role a couple months ago and I just found it as an opportunity for me to audition for the first Polynesian princess.

"I wanted to represent for Polynesians, and that was always my goal, because not everyone knows about us and I just want to represent for them. So I was like, 'I want to try it, it's a Disney princess, why not try it?'"

Her band mate Camila Cabello adds, "Dinah's the real life Polynesian princess. We're seriously rooting for her so hard to get that role, she would be literally, absolutely incredible at it."

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has already signed up to voice one of the characters, while Hamilton star and Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda has been recruited to co-write songs for the film.

Moana is slated for release next year.
