US First Lady Michelle Obama has told The Late Show host Stephen Colbert that the entire Obama family does impressions of the President.

She even showed off her own version, mimicking Barack Obama's boring dinner table conversation.

The president came in for a bit more teasing when Colbert asked about a magazine photo apparently showing the couple in a tender moment.

It turns out the most powerful man in the world was actually getting the hard word from his wife on being more patient during the photo shoot.

"Barack is horrible in photo shoots, and I hate doing photo shoots with him. So I'm sure right there I was saying 'Would you just be patient and stop, don't rush the photographer'," she explained.

Apparently it's easier to get the First Family's two dogs to pose for a photo than it is to snap a good shot of the President.

The photo sessions may be one thing she won't miss about living in the White House, but Mrs Obama said it was "bittersweet" coming to the end of the family's eight years there.

"I find myself choking up because we have raised our kids in the White House. We've had so many amazing experiences."

She also revealed she's already made her children start packing up their rooms.

"My thing is, 'If you don't pack it, I'm throwing it out'," she said.

The popular First Lady also weighed in on her friendship with pop superstar Beyoncé.

"She's a sweetheart. She's smart, she's creative, she's a great mother. She loves her family," she said.

"She's just a low-key lady, so we have a lot in common in that way. Except I can't sing, I can't dance."
