In a Yahoo! Movies exclusive, the first image has been revealed of Michael Fassbender as the assassin Aguilar in the upcoming Assassin's Creed film.
Fassbender plays Callum Lynch, who uses Abstergo technology to relive the adventures of his ancestor Aguilar in 15th century Spain. In doing so, Lynch gains the knowledge and skills he needs to fight the Knights Templar in the present day.
If none of these names sound familiar to you, it's because the movie isn't retelling any of the Assassin's Creed games, but rather "introducing new characters into the same world".
Also starring is Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises), Michael Kenneth Williams (12 Years a Slave) and Ariane Labed (Before Midnight).
Assassin's Creed is set to open in cinemas on December 21, 2016, and shooting is due to commence next week. It's directed by Justin Kurzel, and written by Bill Collage, Adam Cooper, and Michael Lesslie.
