Star Trek star George Takei has apologised for sharing a photograph of a disabled woman standing up to reach a bottle of booze in a store.
The actor was branded "offensive and ignorant" earlier this month after he uploaded an image to his Facebook.com page showing a woman standing up from a wheelchair to reach for a bottle of spirits.
The picture was posted alongside the caption, "There has been a miracle in the alcohol isle [sic]", but Takei has now said sorry for sharing the image.
He says, "I was enlightened on the various degrees of disability of people who use wheelchairs. One should have the ability to apologise for mistakes and there's a realisation of one's ignorance of some life realities."
