The Grand Budapest Hotel has stormed the 2015 BAFTA nominations with 11 nods.

The comedy flick, which follows a concierge who teams up with one of his employees to prove his innocence after being framed for murder, is in the running for some of the most prestigious prizes at the event, including best film, cinematography and original screenplay.

However the film, helmed by Wes Anderson, who is also up for the best director accolade, faces stiff competition from other big features of last year for best film. Fellow big contender The Theory of Everything is in the running, joined by Birdman, Boyhood and The Imitation Game.

Another category The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Theory of Everything and Birdman all feature in, is leading actor. Ralph Fiennes' role as concierge Monsieur Gustave H. is up for the prize, along with Eddie Redmayne's portrayal of professor Stephen Hawking and Michael Keaton's former superhero alter ego Riggan Thomson. They're joined by Jake Gyllenhaal for Nightcrawler and Benedict Cumberbatch as code-cracker Alan Turing in The Imitation Game.

The leading actress category is full of impressive performances. Amy Adams' role in Big Eyes is up for the award, joined by Felicity Jones for The Theory of Everything, Julianne Moore in Still Alice, Reese Witherspoon in Wild and Rosamund Pike for Gone Girl.

And following in their footsteps is the best supporting actress group, which includes different films from the above nominations. Emma Stone in Birdman is against Rene Russo in Nightcrawler, Patricia Arquette for Boyhood, Keira Knightley in The Imitation Game and Imelda Staunton in Pride.

Foxcatcher has a good position in best supporting actor, with both Steve Carell and Mark Ruffalo up for the prize. They're joined by Edward Norton in Birdman, Ethan Hawke for Boyhood and J.K. Simmons in Whiplash.

And another exciting award to be won this year is The EE Rising Star Award, voted for by the public. Jack O'Connell, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Margot Robbie, Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley are up for the title this year.

The Hunger Games star Sam Claflin announced the nominations in London this morning.

The ceremony, which will be hosted once again by Stephen Fry, will take place at London's Royal Opera House on February 8, 2015.
