Microsoft and 343 Industries have unveiled the opening cinematic for Halo 5: Guardians ahead of its launch on October 27.

The video centres on Fireteam Osiris, led by Spartan Locke, as they receive UNSC orders to recover a high-value target from Covenant and Promethean forces. It's directed by 343 Industries, in collaboration AXIS Animation, Profile Studios, and Warner Bros, and as well as kicking off the "most ambitious, robust and epic Halo campaign experience yet," it serves as an introduction to Locke and his team:

You may recognise Buck - he's played by Nathan Fillion, who was Malcolm Reynolds in Firefly and Rick Castle in Castle, among other roles.

Halo 5: Guardians is set for release on October 27, exclusively for Xbox One.
