House of Cards actress Robin Wright has bucked the inequality pay trend by successfully negotiating equal pay with her co-star Kevin Spacey, who plays her on-screen husband.
Wright says she armed herself with information about how the public viewed her character before negotiations began.
"I was looking at statistics, and Claire Underwood's character was more popular than [Spacey's] for a period of time in a season, so I capitalised on that moment," Wright says.
"I was like, 'You better pay me, or I'm going to go public'. And they did!"
Spacey responded saying he's honoured to be part of a show that supports equal pay for women.
