Iron Maiden has touched down in the land of the long white cloud, doing so in style.

Ed Force One -- their private Boeing 747-400 -- jetted into Christchurch International Airport in the early hours this morning, with lead singer Bruce Dickinson swapping the microphone for a pilot's hat and flying the band around.

Ed Force One underwent some heavy maintenance after a runway crash in Chile in March this year, but it looked in tip-top shape as it glided in today, donned with The Book of Souls World Tour stickers and mascot Eddie on the tail.

The band last played in New Zealand in 2009.

The metal band is playing at Horncastle Arena in Christchurch tomorrow night and Auckland's Vector Arena on Sunday.

Tickets can be found on the Ticketmaster website.
