Rapper Jay Z has taken aim at bosses at streaming sites Spotify, Apple and YouTube a month after launching his rival venture Tidal at a highly-mocked all-star press conference in New York.

The '99 Problems' hitmaker hosted a free concert for subscribers to his music streaming service and during the show on the weekend, the 45-year-old performed a freestyle rap, in which he confronted the criticism surrounding his new pay-to-play initiative and called out bosses at the competition sites.

He rapped, "Google dangled around a crazy cheque/I feel like YouTube was the biggest culprit/Them niggas pay you a tenth of what you're supposed to get/You niggas die for equal pay right/You know what I'm worth/I ain't ya slave right/You know I ain't shuckin' and jivin' and hi-fivin'/You know this ain't back in the days, right."

Taking shots at late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and Nike co-founder Phil Knight, he continued, "Tidal, my own label, same difference/Oh, niggas is sceptical when it's their own shit/You bought nine iPhones and Steve Jobs is rich/Phil Knight is worth millions, you still bought them kicks/ Spotify is nine million, they ain't say shit."

Jay Z also thrilled fans when he reunited with long-time friend and collaborator Memphis Bleek and former label mates Young Gunz, Freeway and Beanie Sigel on the stage.

Young Jeezy and Jay Electronica were also among the special guests.
