Jess Simpson 'worried parents would ruin wedding'

Jessica Simpson reportedly "warned" her parents not to embarrass her on her wedding day.

The blonde star, who today is celebrating her 34th birthday, tied the knot with her long-time beau Eric Johnson last weekend.

The couple, who have two-year-old daughter Maxwell and 12-month-old son Ace together, had a beautiful ceremony at the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara.

While Jessica has since spoken about what a wonderful day it was, it seems there was tension leading up to the nuptials. She reportedly feared her parents Joe and Tina Simpson would cause trouble, after having filed for divorce in 2012 amid rumours her father was gay.

Joe officiated the wedding and Tina walked her daughter down the aisle.

"Jessica had warned her parents that they had to get along and not embarrass her at the wedding," a source told America's Star magazine.

"But Tina made it clear to everyone, she was furious that Jessica chose her father to organise the three-day event, which included a Fourth of July party and a Sunday brunch."

Jessica was apparently keen to make it clear to her folks that they should let her enjoy the special event, and not make it about themselves.

"Jessica finally had it and told her mother that it was her wedding and to stop moaning," the source added.

It was also reported one of the reasons Jessica and Eric's marriage was so delayed was due to a disagreement over a prenup. The couple got engaged in November 2010, but originally had to put off tying the knot due to falling pregnant.

This is the second marriage for both parties. Jessica was wed to singer Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006, while Eric tied the knot previously in 2005.
